Every brand has a mark. Ours is a seal.
When you see the gold circle on a MODE OF GOD hoodie, it might read at first like an emblem from an old institution, a coin or a crest. Look closer and it says one word: GOD. That's on purpose. Here's the story and the meaning behind each part of it.
Why a seal?
In Scripture, a seal is a mark of ownership and authenticity. A king's seal on a letter meant this is genuine, this carries my authority. Paul writes that believers are "sealed with the promised Holy Spirit" (Ephesians 1:13), a guarantee that we belong to God.
That's the idea we wanted to wear: not a logo that says "look at me," but a mark that says I belong to Him. A seal isn't something you earn or put on yourself. It's placed on you by the One who owns you. That's the whole point of MODE OF GOD: faith isn't a setting you switch on for Sunday, it's the default everything else runs on. The seal is that truth made visible, a reminder every time you get dressed of whose you are.
The three parts of the seal
1. The cross at the center
The heart of the design is the G-cross-D monogram: the letters G and D, with a cross standing between them where the "O" would be. Read it out and it spells GOD. Look at it and the cross sits at the center, literally. For us that's the whole message in one shape: you can't spell out who God is without the cross.
2. The Greek-key ring
Around the monogram runs a continuous Greek-key (meander) pattern, an unbroken line that turns and turns but never ends. It's one of the oldest decorative patterns in the world, and we use it as a picture of something eternal: a love with no beginning and no end, a line that never breaks. Black and gold carry that story too. Black is the old life laid down, the grey areas we leave behind. Gold is what God makes of what we hand Him: refined, worth something, made to last.
3. Gold
We print the seal in gold because gold has meant worth and royalty for as long as people have made things. In Scripture it shows up in the temple, in the gifts brought to the newborn Jesus and in the streets of the New Jerusalem. Gold on black is our way of saying something precious is being carried in the ordinary.
Chest or back?
The GOD Seal shows up in two main ways:
- A small chest seal. It's subtle, like a quiet signature. It's on the GOD Seal Heavyweight Hoodie – Black, a 10 oz heavyweight pullover with a relaxed fit.
- A large back seal. A bigger statement, seen in our NYC chase video, where the seal fills the back of the hoodie.
The monogram also appears on its own across our designs, including the black-and-white Curve Zip Hoodie.
Original, not borrowed
Streetwear is full of designs that borrow from luxury houses. We made a decision early: every MODE OF GOD mark is our own. The seal, the Greek-key ring and the G-cross-D monogram were designed for MODE OF GOD and don't imitate anyone else's logo. If you're wearing the seal, you're wearing something made for this message.
What it means to wear it
You don't have to explain the seal to anyone. But if someone asks, "What's that on your hoodie?", you've got a one-word answer and a much longer story: a cross at the center, a love with no end and a mark that says you belong.
The seal is the thread running through everything we make, from Garments of Salvation and No Grey Area to Strength and Dignity, Keys of the Kingdom, Crowned and Jesus Saves Gangsters Too. Different pieces, one message: you were sealed, you belong, and nothing can break that line.
That's the GOD Seal. Wear it boldly.
